Wang Chao was Present at 3rd China–Caribbean Business Conference

The 3rd China–Caribbean Business Conference was held in Port of Spain, the Capital of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, in the afternoon of September 12, 2011. Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Chao delivered a speech.

According to Wang Chao, there are great differences between China and the Caribbean countries in resources, stages of development as well as industrial structures, and that is why the economies of the two sides are highly complementary, with huge business opportunities and great potentials for cooperation and development. The entrepreneurs have become an important part in China-Caribbean economic and trade cooperation, playing an irreplaceable role in "Cooperation , Development and Win-for-all".

Wang said that there are growing uncertainties and increasing instabilities in the current world economic recovery, with greater pressures and challenges in emerging economies brought by global financial crisis. Ensuring a steady global economic recovery is still a primary task for all governments and a duty for all entrepreneurs in the world. Further expanding two-way investment, and deepening China-Caribbean economic and trade cooperation will play a more important role to the sustainable and sound economic development of the two sides.

Wang Chao put forward three proposals on deepening pragmatic cooperation between enterprises of China and the Caribbean countries: First, expand two-way investment and trade with a long-term perspective. Enterprises from China and the Caribbean countries could expand investment and cooperation in such areas as manufacturing industries of high-tech, services and infrastructures. And China will, in accordance with the overall requirements of the 12th Five-Year Plan on optimizing trade structure, promote the diversification of import source, and encourage Chinese enterprises to expand imports from the Caribbean countries. China hopes the Caribbean enterprises to participate in trade exhibitions and promote their comparative products in China. Second, promote innovation, and foster new growth points in trade cooperation. Third, expand opening up, and create a favorable environment for trade cooperation. China has its highly opened market, and will further expand opening up. China is committed to expanding domestic demand, and there will be a huge market, which will bring new cooperation opportunities for enterprises of China and Caribbean countries. He hoped the entrepreneurs to give full play of the entrepreneurial spirit, seeking common interests and opportunities for cooperation so as to push forward bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level.
