Wang Chao Attended and Addressed the Recommendation and Introduction Meeting of Hunan Green Development

  



On May 18, the recommendation and introduction meeting on green development of Hunan Province at the Expo Central China 2012, sponsored by Hunan Provincial People's Government, was held in Changsha, Hunan province. Vice Commerce Minister Mr. Wang Chao attended and addressed the meeting.

Mr. Wang pointed out that, as world economy is in a process of slow recovery, how to solve the problem of the living environment confronting humankind development is a major issue of common concern in the international community. Featured by circulation, ecology, low-carbon and sustainability, green development has made the economic development mode transformed, is helpful for the addressing of global climate change problem, and has become the consensus of the international community for development. Especially since the outbreak of the international financial crisis, more and more countries have realized the significance and necessity of green development and put it into national development strategy in succession. China is the first to formulate Comprehensive Working Program on Energy-conservation and Emission-reduction and National Program on Dealing with Climate Change among developing countries. Over the years, the Chinese government, sticking to people first, and the outlook on scientific development of harmonious and sustainable development, has regarded energy-conservation as the national policy, developed circular economy, protected the ecological environment, stepped up the construction of energy-conservation and environment friendly society, and promoted the coordination between economic development and population, resources and the environment.

Mr. Wang stated that the Ministry of Commerce of China attaches great importance to green development, constantly perfects and promotes all kinds of policies for green development, and uplifts the level of green development in intensification, marketization and internationalization by means of building the international exchange and cooperation platform of green industry, strengthening investment and promotion in green industry as well as supporting the ecological and environmental protection in national development zones. Also, to optimize the structure of absorbing foreign capital is an important way to promote green development. The Ministry encourages foreign capital to go into the industries including the modern agriculture, hi-end manufacturing, hi-tech industry, modern service industry and new energy and energy-saving and environmental protection industry; encourages foreign investors to develop the labour-intensive industries in line with environmental protection in the central and western China; and encourages central and western China to undertake the domestic and foreign industrial transfer and make an overall plan to develop the traditional industries and technical innovation and green environmental protection industries. The implementation of the policies and measures will create conditions for China's sustainable development, and will contribute to protecting the global ecological environment.

At the meeting, Governor of Hunan province Xue Shousheng delivered a speech, and Vice-governor He Baoxiang recommended and introduced the provincial investment environment. Officials from Japan, Suriname, Chinese State Council, Hunan provincial government, and over 20 ministries and commissions and central enterprises attended the meeting. Totally over 1000 representatives from the governments, industrial organizations and enterprises at home and abroad were present at the meeting.

On that day, Mr. Wang also attended and addressed the meeting between the six provinces of the Central China and transnational enterprises, and met with top management of international retailing companies, such as Walmart, Metro Group and TESCO.
